The Five Elements of Beauty

One of my professors, who grew up in China told our class that when she moved to North America she couldn’t believe the inundation of beauty products on women. I’ll never forget her describing the ideology she grew up with that a women’s beauty depended on how well her spirit, or heart centered energy (shen) came through her instead of how many wrinkles or lines she didn’t have.

That shattered the beauty myth for me and sent me on a decade long (and counting) journey to look at what I have been culturally trained to believe about age, beauty and a woman’s worth.

I’ve found that these are The Five Foundational Elements of Beauty that will make you ‘age less and live more’ no matter what:

  • Food

  • Sleep

  • Movement

  • Rest and Restoration

  • Relationships
